I love this machine. Makes making tomato juice and sauce so much easier. Have used it for two years and still works fine. Difficult to assemble but worth the effort. If it ever broke, I would replace it with the same thing.

I received my STX MEGAFORCE 3000W WITH "COWL AIR INDUCTION COOLING SYSTEM" - 3000 WATT" 3.4 HP meat grinder yesterday. It arrived right on time and in perfect condition.
I bought this grinder to make my own raw dog food and knew I needed one rugged enough to chew through chicken bones. I considered the STX 1800 WATT" 2.4 HP model since it has such glowing reviews, but this one was only a few dollars more and had more 'ponies under the hood' so I sprung for the newer model. I also liked the idea of the cowl air induction cooling system this model has as I plan on using this machine for many years to come and the cooling system should keep this one running optimally for the long haul. I have to tell you, I am not disappointed!
I had it put together and grinding twenty pounds of chicken wings within a matter of minutes after pulling it out of the box. I hand washed all the parts that would touch the food and began grinding. What I noticed right off the bat was that this machine is quiet for such a powerful grinder. I fully expected it to be much, much louder, but was pleasantly surprised.
The chicken wings were about half frozen (which is recommended for optimum grinding) and still had the skin on and this machine ground them up easy as pie. Once or twice on a particularly thick bone it hesitated for about a second, then ground it up quickly and thoroughly. It did all twenty pounds without missing a beat - in fact, I had a hard time keeping up with the machine! It was grinding them that fast and easy.
So here are my pros:
Priced amazingly well for a machine that can do all this one can do
The machine is well built and sturdy but not overly heavy or cumbersome
It's much quieter than expected
It grinds through chicken bones, skin and gristle like a hot knife through butter
Not once did it bog down or clog up on me through 20 pounds of large chicken wings
Grinds quickly and efficiently
Very easy to put together, take apart, and clean up
Lots of extra parts for grinding and sausage making
And okay, there have to be a few cons, right? But I don't have many and none would stop me from buying this machine again!
First, the instructions you get with this machine are terrible. It's one page folded in half (which is okay, BUT . . .) it's written in teeny tiny print that looks like a copy of a copy of a copy - it's that hard to read. (Even with a magnifying glass I couldn't make out some of the instructions.) The saving grace of this 'con' is that this machine is pretty easy to figure out. But still this has been the same 'con' I've seen over and over again on the review page for the 1800 watt version of this machine by the same company and it's time for the problem to be addressed and corrected.
My only other con is that none of the parts are dishwasher safe. You MUST hand wash all the parts that touch the food. Now this isn't a huge con for me, I never did mind hand washing and it goes very quickly when you're done grinding, but I do like the sterilizing effect of the dishwasher, so having this as an option would have been fabulous.
So to sum up, if you're looking for a powerful, easy-to-use, well-made, excellently priced meat grinder, you can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend this machine!
Update** Okay, I just left this review yesterday, but I had to come back today to add that just a couple of hours ago I put about ten pounds of more than half frozen chicken legs (drumsticks) through the grinder. I have to admit, I wondered before I put them through if I shouldn't let them thaw more, but WOW! No problem at all for this grinder. It ground them up easily and thoroughly.
Then I put about five pounds of boneless chicken breasts through that weren't frozen at all, just cold from the fridge. Again, no problem whatsoever even though it is recommended you use partially frozen for best results. This machine didn't care a wit! lol
When I was done, I put a few whole carrots through to push out all the meat (plus, since this is for my dog, I like the idea of a little bit of veggies in her meat), and of course the STX ground them up beautifully. If you're looking for a great grinder at a fabulous price, go press "buy now"!

I am an avid hunter. For the past 2 years I have purchased 3 different expensive grinders that flat out couldnt do the job. This year I bought the Mega Force 3000 air cooled from mercantile station. Still skeptical due to bad experiences, I felt it was going to be a repeat of previous years. I WAS WRONG. Not only was this unit less expensive than the other non working models I bought, IT PERFORMED PERFECTLY. I could not believe how fast and efficient it was. Literally grinded the deer meat pretty much as quick as I could load it. I clean my deer down to the bone and grind what I can get in there that is palatable and this grinder didnt slow down for a single second. I am not easy to satisfy but will be the first to admit that this grinder will do the job. You will not go wrong buying from Mercantile Station and the grinder is great. Clean up is so easy, everything comes apart to wash and goes back together in seconds. Something else, I was so skeptical I sent mercantile station an email telling them of my problems with grinders and wanted one that worked. Their communication, product knowledge and shipping was excellent. Highly recommend Mercantile Station and the Mega Force 3000 air cooled. Good Hunting

I will keep this short and sweet. I made this purchase to grind my own hamburger meat and make sausage as well. I don't grind bones up with this but I can't say enough about this machine. If you need a quality meat grinder than look no further. My wife and I ground 15 pounds of meat in about 5 minutes!!! I am a hunter who butchers 8-10 deer per year and make my own burger & sausage. I have previously used "hand crank" grinders and smallish electric grinders. While both will do the job for a deer or two, due to the volume I am processing it was time for an "upgrade".
When I made the decision to buy my own grinder, I did a lot of research to determine which model would best suit my needs at an affordable price. Based on the features, motor power, quality and price I decided to try the Waring MG800. If this didn't work, my next step would be a used commercial grinder.
Let me tell you, I am impressed ! This grinder is everything advertised and more. The construction is rugged and the components are well designed. My first night I ground and vaccuum packed 20 lbs of sausage in 1/2 hour (only 5-10 minutes were actually spent grinding). The grinder never clogged and you can literally feed the hopper with your hand, the screw is so well designed that it actually draws the meat down the throat without the use of the "pusher" that is provided. Clean up is a snap due to the ease of disassembly and cast stainless housing. Power is more than adequate, and with the 5 year motor warranty you can't go wrong.
Two things to note, the blades and plates are carbon steel and must be thoroughly washed and dried before storage or they will rust (but this is also true with $1000 grinders). Also, don't be fooled by people advertising 850, 1000 or even 1200 watt plastic grinders on E-bay. This grinder may be 450 watts, but it is a true 450. The "1000 watt" grinders are actually more like 200 watt in use, so be careful.

The motor is strong, but "professional grade" is really pushing it. Works EXCELLENT for hamburger, rarely need the plunger. However at first I had poor results with suasage, it turned out with the consistency of liverwurst. After a few tries I learned to avoid forcing the motor to stuff the sausage. Let the meat flow out and squeeze the casings by hand to stuff them.
Results are getting much better. Manufacturer should provide tips and advice. Suasage casings are difficult to find locally, but you can buy buy them online.
Negative aspects are that the accessories have immediate rusting issues, however has not effected performance over 3 months. The hopper does not extend far enough from the machine, the meat lands on the inside edge of the receiving bowl. This results in a spill over if you do not turn the bowl.
However the motor is strong and is reversable, if you get a clog. And the main unit and hopper are made of quality stainless steel and metal.
I am not able to revise my star rating, but after 3 months of use, definitely a 4 and well worth the money. I have not bought store hamburger or suasage since buying this item. Parts do well in the dishwasher, even at sani level.

I purchased this grinder about a year ago during the "mad cow" scare...It's nice to be able to control what is in your ground meats and sausages.
When I want to make a batch of hamburger, I buy 15-20 pounds of beef, trim off the fat, gristle, and sinew before grinding. I add an appropriate amount of fat evenly to the meat chunks as I grind them. It's actually fun and goes so fast. I wrap and freeze the freshly ground beef in one pound packages. I also make my own bulk sausage, using the recipes included with the grinder. Delicious! As with the hamburger, when I am ready to make sausage, I buy 15 to 20 pounds of meat--pork, turkey, and/or chicken--and just follow the recipe. This fresh sausage is also wrapped and frozen in one pound packages.
The hopper handles a large amount of meat, and all I have to do is keep piling on the large chunks, guiding them into the feed tube. I have not had to use the "pusher" because the grinding screw easily pulls the meat down and through. The grinder has never bogged down or clogged up. I usually grind more than one type of meat and/or sausage in a session, so to clean out the grinder between products, I run saltine crackers through. Then I'm ready to continue with the next project! Speaking of crackers, this grinder also makes terrific cracker crumbs...And I have yet to try out all it's other capabilities, such as grinding fruit, nuts, and cheese.
The cutting plates will rust if one does not follow the instructions for cleaning and storing them. (After washing the plates, I dry them in a warm oven, oil them lightly with vegetable oil, and wrap them in waxed paper.) If the directions are followed, there will be no problem, and the grinder will be ready for the next big job...
This grinder is loud--I plug my ears with a bit of tissue, which takes care the noise--and it has one speed, which is not a problem--one speed is all it needs. I like the simplicity of this machine; there are no "bells and whistles" to figure out and break. It is a straight-forward, hard-working, no-nonsense appliance.
I enjoy using my grinder. It is powerful, fun to use, and economical. I buy quality meats on sale and in bulk, which saves me quite a bit of money. Also, I feel good about knowing EXACTLY what is in the ground meats/sausage I feed my family and friends, and how fresh it is! I can highly recommend this model for anyone who desires a dependable and powerful meat/food grinder.

Once upon a time, meats, nuts, and other foods were ground up with a hand-cranked apparatus. In order to keep as ergonomic in the kitchen as possible, it's important to avoid repetitive tasks that place a high demand on the joints of your hand and wrist. This 200-watt electric grinder takes on the bulk of the work burden; all there is to do is push the food gently down into the hopper.
The most obvious use for the grinder is for meats--sausage, ground beef or lamb, chopped liver, pates, etc. (The handy sausage stuffer attachment helps guide the ground meat into the casings.) But it's also great for nuts, vegetables, and fruits. The fine grinder plate, for example, is great for making baby food.

This is what I've learned from experience in trials and error. You should cut the meat in chunks smaller than the tube and you should partially freeze it otherwise it will clog from all the stringy stuff in the meat. It depends on your freezer and the temperature of the meat after cutting but I think between 20 and 40 minutes should be adequate. Experiment with the time a little. If it's not frozen enough, it will clog prematurely and if it's too frozen, you will damage your grinder. I have it down to a science and I can grind 20lbs cut up rump roast or chuck roast in about 15 minutes without it clogging.

I paid for another meat grinder a few years back that, bit the dust, first it cost more, then the Rival, it made more noise, it weighed more. So far I have had only the best experience with the Rival Food Grinder, it's light compared to other electric grinders I have owned, costs less, and is extremely easy to assemble and disassemble. So far it's the best one I have owned for the cost.

I've used this attachment to make sausage for over five years now. It is great for the beginner or the occasional sausage maker but as you start making larger quantities it starts to fall down. The biggest problem is that if you are stuffing anymore than about three pounds of sausage it just takes too long. The grinder is great for 3-5 pounds of meat but the motor begins to heat up after that. If you are just starting or will only make an occasional batch of sausage then this is the grinder/stuffer for you.
The quality of the equipment is top notch. Very robust.

I have a KitchenAid and I must say, they are as good as their high reputation. I bought the mixer mainly to make bread, but what makes it even better are the accessories. These convert the stand mixer/dough maker into a vegetable processor, grinder and sausage maker. There is also a grain grinder that really works quite well. Here are the pros and cons of this set, as I see it:
Pros:
You get a decent meat grinder with two blades, coarse and fine. This means you can make ground turkey with no additives, ground chicken without added fat, or fresh ground beef. You can also grind meat for sausage (about which, later.)
You get a slicer similar to those hand-turned cone types that make cole slaw or waffled carrot slices.
Cons:
The sausage nozzle for filling the casings is not included. This is, in my opinion, really dumb. It's just a couple of pieces of molded plastic. For heaven's sake, include it.
The slicer is a bit clunky. If you don't put the bowl to catch the shreds just right, you get slaw all over. And sometimes it is hard to get the cone off the flanges of the connecting pin that fits into the mixer attachment point. But screwing it into the mixer and grabbing with a rubber mat usually works for me.
I prefer a mandoline, a food processor or even a big board and a really sharp chef's knife to the slicer, but it does save on counter space. So, this is a good thing to have as an addition to your KitchenAid if you do any kind of prep cooking, such as canning, salads, baby foods, venison processing, or sausages. It's very good quality plastic and metal, though the cone blade finish seems a bit crude to me. I can recommend it, with the reservations I mentioned.

I use this with my Kitchenaid Epicurean and really enjoy it. Used it to grind our own beef and pork for meatloaf and shredded plenty of cheese for mac and cheese. The motor provides plenty of power to grind and shred through just about anything, and the shredding/grinding blades seem to keep their edge quite nicely.
There are a lot of bits to keep track of though, and some of them can be a little difficult to clean properly. I also wish the hopper for the grinder attachment was a little bit bigger.
It's not going to replace my food processor, but when I have a large volume of stuff to do, or for things my food processor's motor just can't handle, this certainly does the trick.

I purchased this set about 2 years ago. The shredders work OK, but it is easier and less mess to chop them by hand. Much of the produce gets caught between the housing and the shredder. It's difficult getting uniform cuts. The piece that is poorly designed is the meat grinder. I'm on my second grinder. Both the feeder shaft and the housing are constructed of a plastic molding on metal. Over a relatively short amount of use, they both began to crack apart at the unions. This of course is not good, being they are used on meat and it makes it almost impossible to clean. I would recommend going for a good sharp knife and a seperate all metal meat grinder (which I am now looking for).

I like to make my own sausage, so this, plus the sausage stuffing attachment, was a great addition to the kitchen.
Some things to make the grinding go easier:
1) Chill the meat cubes in the freezer for 30 minutes or so. If the meat is completely defrosted, it can gum-up the inside a bit (easily resolved). Having the meat cubes a little "stiffer" lets it grind easier.
2) Don't power your mixer up to "10". This is a slower process. I use the max speed or "stir" or maybe as high as a 1 or 2. This keeps the grind even and you won't overheat your mixer.
Cleaning can be a bit of a pain. I unfold a paper clip and use the wire to dig out some of the meat, rinse and then let the dishwasher do the rest.

I did not buy this at Amazon but feel a review is worthy. I bought this for my husband 4 years ago for Christmas to process his wild game, deer. We have only used this for deer but I must say we are able to get so much more meat out of our game with this grinder. We always process it ourselves and before we only got steaks and roasts. With this grinder we are able to make burger and keep more of the meat than it going to waste. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this grinder. I noticed yesterday while my husband was grinding that it seemed to bog down a bit but I noticed on another review to chill the meat in freezer first. I think we'll try that next time and keep it on a low setting. We would be lost without this very valuable piece of equipment!

We have only used the grinder attachment to grind a pork butt and stuff some italian sausage. the grinding went really easy and had no problems with the blades cloging. My only dissapointment was with the cheap plastic pusher that was included and not the wood one that was in the picture on the website

I bought one of these last year.
Be the first, what audacity to change the web-page and clear the other reviews.
I used it three times before a small plastic piece wore.
There is a plastic piece which attaches to a metal shaft.
If you understand the principle of a wheel turning at a rapid pace with
a plastic piece on the end, you may realize that the piece should have been
metal when the part wears and the wheel won't turn.
The company never contacted me after I sent the product in to them. They
also changed the web page so my original review was deleted.
If that one single part had been metal, the machine would have lasted.

After one month of using it, it literally fell a part. At first, the grinder was getting clogged even when I was grinding vegetables after which it has stop working completely. I believe, that information about this product is misrepresented, the motor is hardly 500W not 1200W. The stainless steel parts have rusted, the aluminum parts have discolored and oxidized, it appears that metal used in it's assembly is not for kitchen appliances.

I read all the other reviews before buying this grinder, I was a bit sceptic but decided to try anyway and I'm glad I did. Before writing this review I wanted to try this for a month.
I use it mostly to grind meat which I have to say it does excellent job, though like the other reviewer I'm a bit concerned about the plastic piece that attaches to the shaft but so far I don't see any signs of wear although I make sure that shaft sits tight on it. If that piece was metal this would have been excellent grinder.
I should also mention that this grinder is easy to clean doesn't make much mess like my other ones.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
